The Karnataka high court on Thursday rejected the bail plea filed by Abdul Nasar Madani, an accused in the Bangalore blasts case. The leader of the People’s Democratic Party from Kerala [ Images ], who was picked up by the Bangalore police, had moved the high court to seek bail on various grounds.

Justice Nagmohan Das, after hearing arguments at length, rejected the bail plea.

Madani was arrested in Kerala on August 17, 2010. He has been in judicial custody ever since. His application for bail before a lower court had been rejected on an earlier occasion.

In his bail plea, Madani submitted that he was diabetic and suffers from cardiac problems. He also said that he suffers from disc prolapse, cervical spondylosis and has been diagnosed with an eye ailment.

He also told the court that he depended on his wheel chair for his movement. He contended that he was not receiving proper treatment and hence he should be granted bail on medical grounds.
