ISLAMABAD: Justice Nasirul Mulk was approved on Tuesday as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), DawnNews reported.
The appointment of Justice Mulk was approved by President Mamnoon Hussain. An official notification is still pending in this regard and is expected to be issued in a few days.
Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani will retire on July 5 whereas Justice Mulk will take oath as the country’s top judge on July 6 and will serve for 13 months.
Mulk, a senior judge of the Peshawar High Court, belongs to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. He was born on August 17, 1950 in Swat, Pakistan and completed his degree of Bar-at-Law from Inner Temple London and was called to the Bar in 1977.
