As Barack Obama embarks on his second administration, America’s future looks as though it will be largely determined by Asian nations, leading the US to try and protect its interests by way of corporate muscle.

Suppose they gave a party and nobody came. When the invitation comes from the US Government there are very few who normally reject it, especially when it comes to trade.

But that is exactly what happened in the middle of November in Phnom Penh, where the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) held their annual conflab with China an invited guest. But one would never guess it from the Western media.
